Rev. Deacon David Dutton

A Northern Virginia native, Deacon David grew up in the backwoods of Fairfax County before coming to Warrenton in 1997. Since then, he has resided in Fauquier County for 27 years. He grew up in a Christian family in several denominations including Assembly of God, the Baptist Church, Presbyterian Church, and the Episcopal Church before becoming Anglican in 2012 when he joined the Anglican Catholic Church, and then finally the Episcopal Missionary Church.

Deacon David first sensed his call to the priesthood in 2008 while at the University of Mary Washington where he earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Historic Preservation in 2010. He received his Master's in Historic Preservation from Goucher College in 2014. Since 2015, he and his father started a preservation consulting and restoration business called Timeless Restorations, specializing in historic mechanical pipe organs and stained-glass windows.
They have enjoyed serving the wider Church, while breathing new life into our historic past for tomorrow's future.

As a newly ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Missionary Church since January 2025, Deacon David seeks to continue strengthening the body of Christ at Christ Anglican Church, expand the church's outreach into the wider community and maintain Christ's call to serve one another in love, while building up the kingdom of God in all the ways we can. Deacon David has previously served as Eucharistic Lay Minister at Christ Church , and led Morning Prayer, given homilies, and assisted the priest at the altar. When he is not helping the Altar Guild at Christ Church, you'll find him rolling up his sleeves assisting the Junior Warden with the buildings and grounds. Occasionally, he will also play the cello for special services.

Deacon David currently lives in southern Fauquier County. When he is not busy working, he volunteers as a certified locomotive engineer at Walkersville Southern Railroad near Frederick, MD. running WWII vintage diesel-electric and steam locomotives, as well as tinkering with antique machines and steam engines. He also enjoys reading about Anglican history, the early Church Fathers, Benedictine spirituality and the lives of contemplative saints, in addition to hitting the trails biking and hiking or out on the water, kayaking.
